More advanced Image Searches
When you go onto google.com and search the images, you will get results that have your keywords in the text, but researchers at the University of California at San Diego are creating a special system in which pictures can be found according to what is actually in the picture instead of keywords that go along with it. As long as the system has been trained to recognize a certain image, it can be searched for and found under the contents of the picture itself. This software uses special algorithms to improve the image labeling. These algorithms are large part of the “Supervised Multiclass Labeling (SML) system” that is able to sort and tag each picture for the contents. Organizations could use this labeling and sorting system for image searches in order to better develop their websites. One main company that could really gain from this new technology would be Google.com, a search engine which currently bases the image search on keywords in websites, so the user gets a variety of different assorted pictures, many of which are not necessarily what the person wanted. This new labeling method uses a semantic image annotation that allows the contents to be sorted by image rather than text.
He main advantage to the new sorting system is that when a person searches for certain images, he or she will have better and more accurate results of the original keyword, since the search will not involve only the text involved with and attached to the image. This will make searching and finding the best picture for each need.

Cars as Wireless Network Nodes
Engineers at UCLA are currently developing a system in which cars would become more technologically advanced with the addition of a wireless network. These engineers use a “mobile ad-hoc networking platform” to connect the car to a wireless network that would then connect to other cars on the road. As we can see now, people, especially in organizations specializing in transportation and delivery, rely more and more on such computer and technology systems as the global positioning systems and also other computer system. Having wireless within each car connected to other cars nearby would allow for a more stable and safe driving experience. These systems will be able to sense events, and anything else that is going on around the vehicle, allowing for a more stable ride. The vehicle wireless network would be an excellent addition to emergency response vehicles in order to better coordinate when and when each one is needed.
This idea of having a wireless network within and between vehicles can be very advantageous. First of all, such a network would allow for safer driving on a day-to-day basis, probably reducing the amount of accidents on the road. Also, drivers would be able to access information on surrounding conditions, both natural and physical, including anything from weather to fire to a nearby traffic jam. The main advantage is that those who are in the business of life saving and rescue would be better able to fulfill duties and take care of those who need help.
One main advantage to the new vehicle wireless network would be that many people are opposed to such ‘gadgets’ within their vehicles, and so they would resist being involved in such a venture. Many people feel very uncomfortable knowing that someone is able to track his or her every move in the vehicle.
The MobEyes Research Project at UCLA could really give rescue teams a good chance to improve with the development of an in-vehicle wireless network that transmits information from car to car. As the world is becoming more reliant upon internet and wireless technologies, it is important that cars and their manufacturers also follow along. The roads could really become much safer with such a network of cars.

The EyePoint System
Researchers at Stanford University are in the process of creating and developing a new system used to remove dependency from the mouse of your computer. The new technology, called the Eyepoint System, is able to use eye-tracking technology and certain computer hot keys in order to facilitate using the internet. The system is able to use sensors to identify on what your eyes focus, and after focus in on what you would like to select and view more closely. By coordinating the use of a “hotkey” and focusing with the eyes, the user is able to magnify a desired web page or portion of it. This new technology could easily and most probably will be used by many organizations in the future, when customer service will be mush faster if the employee is better able to move to the site desired, simply with eye movement. The Eyepoint System can and most probably will have a huge impact upon the world of organizations, which are more and more dependent upon cutting-edge technologies. Along with the Eyepoint System the researchers are also developing similar parts like EyeScroll and EyePassword, both of which are a part of the GUIDe research program.
The system is a very innovative and good idea, especially for those who are handicapped and have possibly lost ability to use a mouse while on the computer. With the Eyepoint System it is much more possible to find and see exactly what catches your eye, literally, since the special software has been developed to read where the eye focuses. Another pro of this system is the fact that it is so innovative, and that when it is released to the public it is likely that it will sell very well because of its wow factor.
There are also some disadvantages to this new technology. The main one is that the System is full of errors, and has so far only been seen as a tool for those not able to use hands for the mouse and keyboard. Another main disadvantage to the Eyepoint System is its high price, which may deter people from buying or even getting to know the product.
The Eyepoint System has high potential for success in a world where new technologies are leading the way. People of the existing generations are looking for better ways to use and search the web, and being capable of using eyesight combined with the keyboard is a highly innovative and amazing new idea that has the potential to wow many people.
